With the Great Computer Tragedy of Summer ‘12, I’ve missed out on a few Sunday Socials with Neely & Ashley. But finally, Cookies For Breakfast is BACK for more!
This post required considerable effort, since I’m a dinosaur, and WE DIDN’T HAVE DIGITAL CAMERAS when I was in middle/high school.
Whatever, kids, I’m a classic. Ain’t no newfangled sh** around here. And I like it that way.
Kids today… sheesh…
I’m wicked excited to read everyone’s posts because one of my FAVORITE THINGS IN ALL OF LIFE is pictures of people when they were younger. Legit. It’s Benjamin, Derek, cake mix batter, and pictures of people when they were younger.
~~~~~~~~
What were you like in Middle School/HS?
Friends, sometimes I feel like a normal-person-imposter. Like, it’s amazing I grew up to be as normal as I am.
I was a giant nerd in middle school. Well, at least I looked like one. Shockingly, I wasn’t even in the “dorky crowd” with a mug like this:
Yet again, I ask myself, WHY AM I SHARING THIS ON THE INTERNET?
Things got better in high school, thank god. Do I at least win “most improved”?
What were your favorite pasttimes?
I was a figure skater all through middle and high school. I’m as unathletic as they come, but I still managed to learn how to do some pretty sweet jumps and spins and even did a bunch of competitions.
Other than that, I hung out with my BFF (above!) Amanda like, all day every day. Of course, we did have other friends, but people generally irritated us, so we were a bit of an exclusive, bitchy duo.
Some things never change…
She & I had a penchant for stealing bras & panties, which earned us the nickname, “Underwear Gnomes” but that all came to an abrupt halt when we got busted at Lord & Taylor and I was grounded for 2.5 million years AND couldn’t go to the Britney Spears concert that we had tickets for.
Still not over that…
What songs were you obsessed with? (Backstreet Boys anyone?)
If you’ve been reading my blog for 0.5 seconds, you know the answer… anything Britney Spears, Spice Girls, and Hanson. All of which, I have seen in concert (plus the Backstreet Boys!).
If you’re curious, Hanson was the best in concert. I saw them once way back in the day (1998, bro!) for the Albertane tour, and again in 2010 for the Shout It Out tour.
Cannot. Get. Enough. Of. This. Song. EVER. Taylor Hanson, you are DREAMY.
The Spice Girls reunion tour beat Britney’s Circus concert hands down, and to be honest, it was better than Brit’s Femme Fatale tour too. Sorry Brit! You’re still my fave of all time overall.
You get major bonus points in my book if you know this Spice Girls song.
Good lord, did I digress or what…
Back to Britney:
I still majorly rock out to this song…
I also had a brief love affair with Ricky Martin:
She’ll make you take your clothes off and go dancing in the rain!
What fashion statement do you look back on and cringe?
Butterfly clips, anyone?
Who was your celeb crush?
I don’t think there was any one celebrity that I was bananas over, but here are a few faves:
What were your favorite tv shows/movies?
Phew. That was FUN! Now I feel like busting out my old DVD collection, throwing some butterfly clips in my hair, and dancing to Baby One More Time…
I think I pissed myself and am STILL wiping away tears from that first picture. Legit. OH. MY. GOD! lmao!
ReplyDeleteThe silk shirt TUCKED IN to your sweet pleated jeans?! Oh my goodness. I'm dying.
I'm glad you're not a pilfering dorky girl anymore.
xoxo
ReplyDeleteButterfly clips!! I was OBSESSED! Loved this!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, our posts are so alike!! I think we would have been friends. But there was no way I would have stolen underwear with you, I was way too much of a goody-goody.
ReplyDeleteI also had to have a glass of wine (or two) before posting some of my old photos.
OMG! I love you! We sound soooo similiar! And you have balls for posting that picture! BAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteI used to CRYYYYYYYYYYYYYY my eyes out to Viva Forever! BAHAHA how lame was I??
ReplyDeleteBut I used to wear butterfly clips! Like all the time! HAHAHAHA And the movies! Yessssssssss I forgot to name those! I think I need to go and fix it!
Butterfly clips!!!, I seriously used to rock those all the time. You win major points for putting your middle school picture up. I'm also a dinosaur and have no pictures from middle school or high school online. Damn I feel old.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, your answers really threw me back!! We wore butterfly clips all the time when we were little, and Hanson/Spice Girls/BritBrit were totally my jam!
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! I forgot how much stuff that I watched as a youngin' but then again, to most women here, I am still a youngin' haha. I think it's too cool that you were a figure skater :) Very admirable!
ReplyDeleteUgh. Butterfly clips. We were losers for sure. I think that first picture might not be so bad but..why did you have your hand in your pocket? That's the part that cracks me up. :) And seriously about the digital cameras! All my teenage pictures are in real-life photo albums at my parents' house!
ReplyDeleteFreddy Prince Jr is yummy! OMG I remember watching re-runs of Fresh Prince, friends and 7th Heaven :)
