Linking up again with ma’ ladies Neely & Ashley for another Sunday Social!
1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??
Cookies For Breakfast.
I was sitting on my couch, largely pregnant (read: I could only wear slippers because shoes didn’t fit anymore), eating Oreos for breakfast on a Saturday.
For the record, this had nothing to do with the fact that I was pregnant – I eat cookies for breakfast regardless if I can play the pregnant card or not.
Then it hit me – Cookies for Breakfast! Because sometimes, life isn’t perfect. Because sometimes, you need cookies for breakfast to get you going. Because sometimes, you need a break from the monotony and need to have some fun!
2. What do you love the most about blogging??
Friendships and having a log about my life & family.
I’ve meet some totally amazing people through blogging. I hardly update my personal facebook anymore because I don’t care to – I’d rather share things with my “blog friends” because those are the people I interact with the most. Is that strange, that some of my closest friends, I’ve never met in real life, and only know them through the internet?
I also absolutely love having this blog to track my life, Benjamin’s life, and everything in between. I’m HUGE on memories, and I love going back and skimming through old posts and crying.
Kidding.
Kind of…
3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?
These show my funny and sappy sides. You’ll get more of my funny side, here on Cookies For Breakfast, because I’m a comedy ninja.
But occasionally I get a little bit sappy (who am I kidding… in real life I’m sappy ALL DAY LONG), and you’ll get some of that here too.
4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?
- Don’t be a “no-reply” blogger. I respond via email to all comments, and if your email isn’t available, I can’t respond. And I like to communicate with my peeps!

- Don’t have word verification (captcha) as part of the comment section on your blog. Talk about pain in the ass.
- Network! See question #5 below.
- ABOVE ALL, be nice. I mean, that should go without saying, but be nice. To everyone. Big bloggers, small bloggers, everyone. If you disagree with someone, be nice in your response – or don’t respond at all. Don’t just dismiss a person/blog because they don’t have 8 gazillion followers – everyone starts with 0 followers, even Dooce & The Pioneer Woman. The person could end up having more followers than you someday, and then you’ll feel like a real asshole.

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?
Networking!
I originally assumed, IF YOU BLOG IT, THEY WILL COME, but that’s not necessarily true. Doing linkups, meeting friends, reading & leaving meaningful comments on other blogs – those things really help you grow, AND have the best benefit of all – making these great friendships and connections that are famous in blogland.
Then you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around… THAT’S WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT! The friends!
6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.
<shameless self-promotion> Mine… tee hee
Because she’s my first & bestest blog friend, & the coolest, funniest person you’ll ever meet: The Memoirs of Megan
Because she’s adorbs, hilarious, & regularly feeds my ego by telling me how cute my child is: This Hive
Because she cracks me up daily, via comments, posts, & emails, & is so stinkin sweet: Every Day Is Your Runway
Happy Sunday, friends!

Awe, teehee, shucks.
ReplyDeleteGee golly.
Cookies for Breakfast is AWESOME! The name alone was what made me click your link originally. I mean, how could I NOT love a gal who eats cookies for breakfast?! Automatically, I knew I'd like you. Then... well, you're a hoot! Plus, your baby is my favorite boy baby (right after my nephew) and I never met him. The "Dirty Little Secret" vlog was sooooo Heather but I love your softy mushy side in the Redux blog. Okay - I sorta hyperventilated when I got to the end. Then I got a little cry in my eyes. Thanks for the shoutout. My reaction was, *shake the husband* "SHE LIKES ME! SHE REALLY LIKES ME!" He was like, "Wha?? Huh? Who? Oh. Cool."
ReplyDeleteI want a cookie! I'm laying in bed but I hear a cranberry & yogurt cookie { you tried those yet? } calling my name from downstairs! You blog is super cute! I'm stopping by from the Sunday social hop. I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love how names just fall into place sometimes? I will admit, now every time I visit your blog I'm going to want to eat an Oreo... not gonna lie. Maybe my blog will eventually become "Blogging with Oreos", lol.
ReplyDeleteThe Pretty Pinhead
Great advice! Stopping by from the hop--love that you really do eat cookies for breakfast :)
ReplyDeleteI so agree with your advice to new bloggers! When people have word verification my reaction is either: 1. Just deal with it if I like them. OR 2. Say to myself, "Really?? You think someone wants to spam your blog that badly?"
ReplyDelete:)
I agree with the word vertification... Sadly I have had to have it as I get spam like crazy from not PG rated sites.... N even If I block them, next day it is the same from a new thing! :( I like the idea of cookies for breakfast! :)
ReplyDeleteJust dropping into say Im having a cookie for breakfast & I thought of you. Haha!
ReplyDeleteHi! Found you through Sunday Social and I must admit I have had cookies for breakfast as well and I think those days are the best, haha. I love Sad Panda....I needed a good laugh this morning
ReplyDeleteI like your thinkin' about eating cookies for breakfast. ;) I used to order dessert first before every meal. Life is too short! I figure by the time I actually am finished with a meal, I'm stuffed and can't enjoy my favorite part. So thus why I ordered dessert first. I think I need to do that again! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your advice on blogging!! So true!! And be nice...what a concept for some! Ya know?? It's really not that hard to be nice. :) Stopping by from the link party. :) Happy Sunday!!
See, I would have thought you named your blog "cookies for breakfast" because that was your description of the perfect life. It sounds like a perfect life to me! But I was wrong. You have some great advice there for newbie bloggers, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower. Nice to meet you! :-) ..I'm also 9+ months pregnant right now and frequently enjoy cookies for breakfast. I have no shame in admitting I've eaten ice cream for breakfast too. Happy Sunday Funday!
ReplyDeleteI quite literally had cookies for breakfast the other day! I enjoy a good cookie every now and again. They make me happy. Why not eat them 1st thing in the morning? New follower and I'm happy I found you through Neely's Social Sunday.

well garsh - arent you just the sweetest thing ever.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered you through Ellen's blog (that sweet post where she mentioned us as her faves)! Glad to have found you! Another kindred blogger - drives me CRAZY when people have a no-reply email and when I have to decipher jibberish just to leave a comment. Like a robot is really gonna leave a comment on your blog for cryin' out loud.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading along!

@Megan
ReplyDeleteHi! Thank you for following along and congrats on your new little one on the way!! Glad you also enjoy all kinds of dessert for breakfast - you are my kind of gal! :)
