Nothing like a 3-day weekend to link up again with Dana, Sami, & Leeann for a Weekend Update!
All in all, it was a WONDERFUL weekend. Only one negative. And it’s a big fat one.
I FOUND OUT STARBUCKS PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES CONTAIN DAIRY. Womp womp. I mean, Benjamin, talk about sacrifice. Forget about 25 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, and a c-section. Forget about stretch marks and nipple biting. Forget about giving up dairy for averylongtime. This one takes the cake.
Anyway… to the weekend…
FRIDAY
Ben had his 9-month checkup on Friday morning. Key stats: 24.4 pounds (90th percentile), 30 3/4 inches for height (97th percentile). WHOA NELLY!

Non-yoga-pants outfit for the pedi (so he takes me more seriously!), and Ben waiting for the doctor…
It’s our annual tradition to kick off the summer with Memorial Day weekend at the beach house, and close the summer on Labor Day weekend at the beach house. So, Friday afternoon, we packed loaded down the Explorer within inches of its life, and headed out for the Cape.
SATURDAY
Saturday was probably one of my favorite days of the entire summer. I did wake up in a bit of a OMG-DEREK-DEREK-WAKE-UP-I-NEED-HELP panic – I yawned oddly, and somehow seriously messed up my jaw. I spent the entire weekend with this ridic jaw pain and could hardly open my mouth at all. Save the inappropriate jokes, trust me, I’ve heard them all already over the past few days… tee hee.
We got up late, relaxed a bit, and I created my favorite outfit of the summer. I just might break the no-white-after-Labor-Day rule for another week or two so I can wear the shorts a few more times. Don’t judge. I’m already giving myself the side-eye for even thinking about this.

Later on, we headed out to Chatham to see the gray seals AND great white sharks that have been tooling around the ocean there, snacking on seals. Sadly, there were no seals or sharks.
We stopped for a late lunch/early dinner, and Ben tried his first pickle (which he liked, shockingly):

And the day still continued after all that fun! We went out to our favorite beach on the Cape, brought Ben to the water (he LOVED it!), my dad & Derek fished off the shore, and we took 8 million photos.

SUNDAY
Derek & my dad went golfing, and my mom, Benny, and I went to a playground and then out for a small lunch of tapas & sangria at an outdoor cafe. With all the lunches my mom and I have been bringing Ben on, he is becoming quite the experienced restaurant baby. Strangers sometimes come up and say they didn’t even realize we had a baby with us because he’s so quiet. Good behavior, FTW!
Later on, we picked up the most exciting thing in the world… LOBSTERS! We legit cooked up two steaks and NINE lobsters for four people. And Derek doesn’t eat lobster. I really wanted to be the triple-lobster-champion, but was satisfied after two. I absolutely could have had a third, but decided that would just be way too gluttonous and only for show (since when do I think this way?).

MONDAY
We loaded up the car again and headed home on Monday afternoon. In between a lot of traffic, a crying baby (with Raffi on repeat all the way home), our dog did god knows what in his crate in the back of the car – it included poop and vomit, but we’re not sure which came first. Or if one led to the other. Regardless, it was a loud, long, and smelly ride home.
THE END
How was your Labor Day weekend? Fabulous, I hope!

Of COURSE Ben liked the pickle!!! Why? Because pickles are deeeelicious, especially the light-hued pickles like the one shown. Also....white after Labor Day? *gasp* Ah well, seems to me most fashion rules are out the window these days.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a pretty darn good weekend... I'm with you on the "no white after labor day" rule, I will have to break it too.

What beautiful photos of a beautiful family enjoying a beautiful weekend. Ben is too stinking cute. And is that a necklace around his neck??? Um, I think Jacob is jealous!!
ReplyDeleteWe have our 9 month checkup in a little less than a month. I'll bet you a latte that's not a pumpkin spice dairy-infused one that Jacob weighs in more than this. Big boys rule!
looks like an amazing weekend so jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteBoo at the dairy in the latte!! Any way you can make your own?
Loved all your pics on the beach! Your lobster dinner looks delish. I am glad you didn't see sharks, but the seals are so cute.
ReplyDeleteYour OOTD pics are so cute!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fabulous weekend! Good for you, saying know to the third lobster, because I KNOW how hard that would be. You should pick up some Pumpkin Pie Spice from the grocery store. If you sprinkle it in your coffee grounds before brewing, it will make your coffee taste like pumpkin and no dairy!!
ReplyDeletelobsters are my fave thing in the wooooorld! what a fun-ass weekend. minus your jaw.. omg how painful/weird! how r u doing now??? sheesh lady. ps - pleeeease. i want benny. i just want to snuggle him. he is the cutestttttt!!!
