I’m currently undigging myself from a gazillion emails, trying to catch up on my Google Reader blog reading, responding to comments, and packing up our house for the big move (yikes, what a time to take a vacation!), but I’m taking a quick break to share our Vegas vacation photos.
The trip was crazy fun, and a good time for hubs and I to spend together as we prepare to live separately with our parents while our house is being built. I also didn’t have any ugly-face-crying-I-miss-my-baby meltdowns while we were gone, which was a huge bonus in my opinion.
If you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t, check me out @CookiesForBFast!), you’ve seen these photos, but hey – let’s all enjoy reliving the trip together!
Las Vegas Trip Beginnings
We kicked off our vacation with a 6 am flight, which meant we had to be up at 3 am in order to gather our things and make it to the airport on time. As if a 3 am wakeup call wasn’t bad enough, Benjamin woke up at 1:30, and decided to party with us until we left for the flight. We ended up with an empty seat in our first flight to Texas, which made up for the fact that we were re-routed due to weather conditions, and spent an extra 2 hours on the runway waiting for clearance… after a 5-hour flight. Whoop whoop.

The Hotel – MGM Grand
We stayed in the MGM Grand a few years ago when we went to Las Vegas, but this time around we upgraded from a regular room to the Tower Spa Suite (let’s not get too excited – the one time I actually used the in-room jacuzzi tub, I overheated and got a migraine, rendering me useless for the rest of the evening). Anyway, the hotel was just as amazing as we remembered. I was completely obsessed with the carpeting in our hallway, and we had an amazing view of the strip out of our suite’s windows.

The Clothes
One of the best parts of the trip? The guilt-free spending spree I went on beforehand! My wardrobe was a little… um… mom-ish and old, and I hit up every store in creation before the trip. (Bonus: most of the purchases can double as perfect Blissdom outfits!) I honestly don’t remember the last time I was this excited about my clothes – it never happens. Yoga pants aren’t very exciting.

The Food
Second best part of the trip? Come on people. This is cookies for breakfast. Obviously the food is going to rank high on my list! I even dieted beforehand, simply to accommodate for the inevitable weight gain after a food-cation like this!
Below – left to right, top to bottom:
Hash House – Sage fried chicken and bacon waffle tower. Enough said.
Sugar Factory – Eggs Benedict. Sugar Factory was like, the best freaking place in the world. Ask for Monique the waitress. She was just divine.
MGM Grand Breakfast Buffet – Friends, one of my guiltiest pleasures in life is a good breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner buffets gross me out, and when I hear, “buffet,” I’m usually creeped. EXCEPT breakfast buffets. Derek was mildly embarrassed of the number of plates I threw back.
FiAMMA – See that delicious drink? Stoli Strawberi, white balsamic, Chambord, and moscato. AMAZE.
Sugar Factory – We were pleased as punch to eat breakfast outside at the Sugar Factory (who says that?)… the second time we went. I don’t even believe in repeating restaurants on vacation but it was that good.
Sugar Factory – I absolutely began my first Las Vegas breakfast with a grape-y alcoholic drink and a coffee!
FiAMMA – Hands down one of the best dinners I’ve ever had in my life. Short rib ravioli with black truffle crema and red wine reduction.
Sugar Factory – Are you sensing a SF theme here? This was the chocolate brioche stuffed french toast. Insane.
Tao – Tao was disappointingly expensive for okay food. This lemongrass crème brulee was one of the highlights.

The Fun
I was beside myself excited to get to shop at Ross again. The only time I’ve been in an 8-hour vicinity of these magical stores is the last time we went to Vegas. I may or may not have bought a few things for whenever we have baby #2 – I mean, I can’t turn down a cute maternity dress, ever.
We had fun in the casino… until we lost all our money (womp womp). Derek was crazy lucky on the slots a few years ago, but apparently that luck expired. We also had a few lame-parent moments, including day drinking in our room watching Dog the Bounty Hunter, and drinking moscato from the bottle in bed one evening.
And of course, we kept in close contact with my parents through a gazillion photos and videos of Benjamin throughout the week!

All in all, a fun trip! Even if you’re not the drinking/gambling/clubbing type (like us!), it’s a fun spot to visit!

Looks like SOO Much fun!! : ) Loved all the pictures!!! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThe best part about vacations would be the spending free beforehand, I'm convinced! Haha. Looks like a blast!!!! Loved the photos!

We stayed at the MGM in one of their West Wing rooms (found a killer special rate) a few years ago and we loved it! My hubby is begging me hard core to go back some time this year and your pictures are helping to sway my answer to yes :)
ReplyDeleteOK - next trip to Vegas, I clearly need to insist on a stop at the Sugar Factory. I've passed it tons of times, but never stopped. But since it was good enough for 3 stops on your vaca, I simply must go!
ReplyDeleteHeather! Unrelated to this post... I just saw a comment that you are going to BlissDom, and I am, too. It's my first time and I am nervous about clothing in Texas in March. Do people REALLY wear jeans in March? Hmmmm. Or dresses with leggings? Hmmmm. Anyway, I thought I'd reach out and say hello. I'm on Twitter at @rasjacobson.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling I'm going to be the girl with the really big hair.
Or the hat. ;)
